Doctor Zong Zhiyong from the Infectious Diseases Centre of West China Hospital of Sichuan University is studying as a PHD candidate in the Centre for Infectious Diseases and Microbiology of Westmead hospital, the University of Sydney,  Australia. It started on March 2006.
Sydney University is the most ancient university in Australian, and Westmead hospital is the biggest medical center of the whole southern hemisphere.
During the studying period of 1 year, Doctor Zong Zhiyong wrote 3 articles, and will contribute to the international medical periodicals which have more than 3 factors. His Scholarships include:
Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) from Australian Commonwealth Government;
International Postgraduate Award (IPA) from The University of Sydney.
Top-up Scholarship from Westmead Millennium Institute.  
Associate Professor Jon Iredell, The supervisor of Doctor Zong Zhiyong in Australia, is one of several co-appointed senior staff  in Infectious Disease, Intensive Care and Clinical Microbiology. On behalf of the Centre for Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, he looks forward to developing collaboration with West China Hospital. Professor Shi Yingkang, Director of West China Hospital and Dean of West China School of Medicine, expressed intention of cooperation with hem.
